A short video tutorial to demonstrate how to sew an easy face mask using cotton poplin fabric and bias binding.
We get asked all the time what is the best fabric to use to make a face mask. We would recommend a tightly woven 100% cotton fabric ( its 100% natural fibres make irritation less likely on the face). It is also a breathable fabric and widely available.
The closely woven yarn in our video is cotton poplin.
Cotton poplin is a soft very tightly woven fabric which is easy to sew, is light in weight and very durable. It can be washed at high temperature which is essential in a face mask. Current recommendations for washing say that a 60 degree machine or hand wash with washing powder will kill the corona virus.
